Little Life Update

I often feel like apologising at the start of these posts: Sorry I've been gone a while, sorry I haven't replied to everyone. However I'm trying to make a conscious effort to not apologise for taking care of myself; when I'm feeling low it's just not as possible for me to interact with the world how I'd like. Basic activities like making food, showering, and housework take up so much energy that all I have left I have to put into my recovery, engaging in things like exercise, meditation and therapy. Things have been... well tough. I haven't needed hospitalisation again since my stay in February; but things have not improved as fast as I'd ho

Mortis et Cortus part 2

The wood always had a forboding feel to it. Pippa tried to drive away the feeling as she made her way through the qood. Shuddering at the sound of the babbling river next to ger. The river Mortis seemed to be taunting her. She vigorously shook her head as she went through the gate of the graveyard.   Pippa went along the rows until she found the grave she had been looking for. There was nothing special about the grave, nor the other for that matter. No one kept them up due to the rule stating no one is allowed in the wood unless it's to bury a victim of the wood. Or rather, a victim of Mortis, the river.  The river is actually

Tips for Artists - Pricing Your Commissions!

I received a question recently about prices, and felt like sharing my ideas here, so more people might find it useful. If pricing work has ever been a pain for you, or you really just feel overwhelmed in figuring out how to set up your commission page, read on! And just a quick note before we begin, these are just my opinions on the matter. They are not the only methods that work, they are just the best methods I have found for my own work. :) MYSELF AS AN EXAMPLE Price is a pretty big topic, and the "right answer" is very elusive, because price is pretty much up to what you can convince people to pay. If you are looking for a golden standa

Lowering

Bruised sky, lowering, dips to touch the parched soil, and with a gentle breath, bears far and wide the scent of damp earth. It is the smell of life.

BibLITotheque 5: Plot Structure

Happy September! You know what that means – NaNoWriMo is only two months away! :noes: Today we’re going to look at plot structure, since it’s never too early to start planning. You may be familiar with inciting incidents and denouement and all those terms. Problem is, how do you apply them? “Rising action” is a big ‘ol string of plot occupying all the space between the intro and climax. That’s a lot to coordinate, and that’s why it’s easy for novels to develop saggy middle syndrome, when the action stops rising and starts flatlining – or worse, starts falling. I’ve hodge-podge
